The Patrol Torpedo Boat (PT) , built by Huckins Yacht was 78' feet long and had a top speed of 53 knots. Their triple-diagonal planked mahogany hulls created a lighter, faster, stronger and fuel efficient ride.
The crews in WWII referred to the Huckins built PT as "the yachts." John Wayne dramatized the role of the PT in "They Were Expendable" (FOX 1945).
